Brett Byram, PhD

Brett is the BEAM Lab's director. Brett graduated with a PhD from Duke in 2011, and a Bachelors degree from Vanderbilt in 2004. He's spent time in Mountain View, California working at Siemens' Ultrasound Business Unit, and he spent a year working with Jorgen Jensen's Center for Fast Ultrasound in Lyngby, Denmark. Brett served as an Assistant Research Professor at Duke University from 2012-2013. He joined the Vanderbilt Faculty in 2013.  Brett is part of the Vanderbilt Institute in Surgery and Engineering (VISE), and is an affiliate of the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS).

Jaime Tierney

Jaime Picture

Jaime is a Vanderbilt Data Science Institute Postdoctoral fellow working in the BEAM lab. She grew up in Massachusetts, and earned her BA in Mathematics from the College of the Holy Cross in 2012. Until 2014, she worked as a Medical Image Analyst at inviCRO. She earned the PhD degree from Vanderbilt in 2019 studying noninvasive ultrasound imaging techniques for estimating microvasculature perfusion. She is now studying techniques for applying deep neural networks to ultrasound beamforming.

Kristy Walsh

Kristy Picture

Kristy is a graduate student in the BEAM Lab from Willoughby Hills, Ohio. She earned a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 2014. During her undergraduate career, Kristy worked in the Vince Lab at the Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner Research Institute on ultrasound projects using RF analysis. She also spent time in CT Electrical Engineering at Philips Healthcare in Cleveland. Currently, Kristy is researching on-axis displacements to estimate stiffness using acoustic radiation force.

Katie Ozgun
