Welcome to Micro/Nanoscale Thermal-Fluids Lab (MNTFL)

The Micro/Nanoscale Thermal-Fluids Lab (MNTFL) in the department of Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt University was founded by Professor Deyu Li in 2004. Research in MNTFL includes experimental and numerical studies of thermal conductivities and thermoelectric properties of nanostructures, development of novel devices for energy conversion and biomedical applications.

We pursue fundamental understanding of thermal and fluid transport through mciro/nano structures by experimental techniques, molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulation. The acquired knowledge is used to develop high efficiency thermoelectric energy converters and micro/nanofluidic lab-on-a-chip devices.
