3rd Annual VISE Symposium
Several MED Lab members presented posters at the Vanderbilt Initiative for Surgery and Engineering's 3rd Annual Symposium and Poster Session. The event helps bring together engineers and clinicians from across the university and medical center.
Phil gets married!
Phil marries his bride Lori at Mint Springs Farm near Nashville. She is way out of his league, but Phil already knows that.

Phil and Dr. Eric Grogan presented at a joint ViSE seminar on challenges in thoracic surgery and a new lung robot aimed at addressing some of these issues.

Lab BBQ at Phil's House
The MEDLab has a BBQ at Phil's house, with Hunter's family bringing a large smoker and pig up from Louisiana. The food was delicious!
Cerebral Hemorrhage Grant Awarded!
The MED Lab has received a $383,248 grant from NIH titled: "Debulking From Within: A Steerable Needle for Intracerebral Hemorrhage Aspiration".
IROS 2014 Best Application Paper Finalist
Jessica's paper is selected an IROS 2014 Best Application Paper Finalist! This makes 9 Best Paper/Presentation nominations (5 awards) for the lab in the past 6 years.
Jessica gets married!
Bob and Phil travel to Hannover, Germany to celebrate Jessica and Lüder's wedding. The ceremony and reception were a blast, and the scenery in Germany wasn't half bad either.

Phil attends SEMDA conference with CTTC
Phil and three members of the Vanderbilt Center for Technology Transfer & Commercialization (CTTC) attended the Southeastern Medical Device Association conference in Atlanta, GA. The conference was a success and a starting point for discussions with several medical device companies regarding Vanderbilt technologies available for licensing, including two technologies developed in the MEDLab!
NSF Fellowships for MED Lab students
4 MED Lab students win prestigious NSF Fellowships! The winners this year are Peter York, Dylan Losey, Andria Remirez, and Michael Siebold. This brings the MED Lab's total to 8 NSF Fellowships won in the past 5 years!
